Exercise Physiology Services for Medicare

At JY Exercise Physiology, we provide specialised Exercise Physiology services to help individuals manage chronic conditions, recover from injuries, and enhance their overall health and wellness. Our services are designed to be accessible and affordable, especially for those eligible for Medicare benefits. If you have a chronic medical condition or complex care needs, you may qualify for Medicare subsidised Exercise Physiology sessions under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS).

What is Medicare Coverage for Exercise Physiology

Through the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS), eligible patients can access up to 5 subsidized Exercise Physiology sessions per calendar year. These sessions are designed to help manage chronic health conditions and support long-term well-being. To access this benefit, you’ll need a General Practitioner (GP) Management Plan (GPMP), also known as a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan or Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan.

📌 Medicare Rebate: $60.35 per session

Eligibility Criteria for Medicare Exercise Physiology

  • You may be eligible for Medicare subsidised Exercise Physiology if you:

    • Have a chronic medical condition lasting 6 months or more

    • Are living with a terminal condition

    • Have a GP Management Plan (GPMP) in place as part of your healthcare management

How to Access Medicare Fund Services

  1. Consult with Your GP: Discuss your health concerns with your General Practitioner (GP). If appropriate, they can prepare a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan or Team Care Arrangement (TCA).

  2. Get a Referral: Your GP will provide a referral (usually an EPC/CDM/TCA referral) to an Accredited Exercise Physiologist.

  3. Book an Appointment: Schedule an initial consultation with JY Exercise Physiology. Bring your referral form and Medicare card to your appointment.

Number of Sessions Per Year

Eligible patients can access up to 5 Medicare subsidised allied health sessions annually. These 5 sessions can be used for one service (like Exercise Physiology) or split across multiple services (like Physiotherapy, Dietetics, etc.) based on your GP’s referral.
