Exercise Physiology Services for Medicare
At JY Exercise Physiology, we offer specialised Exercise Physiology services to support individuals in managing chronic conditions, recovering from injuries, and improving overall health and wellness. Our services are accessible and affordable, particularly for those eligible for Medicare benefits. If you have a chronic medical condition or complex care needs, Medicare may help cover the cost of our Exercise Physiology sessions under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS).
Medicare Coverage for Exercise Physiology
Under the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS), eligible patients can access up to 5 subsidised Exercise Physiology sessions per calendar year. These sessions are available to individuals who have a chronic medical condition and are managed under a General Practitioner (GPMP) Management Plan, also known as a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan or Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan.

Eligibility Criteria
Must have a chronic medical condition lasting six months or more a terminal condition(s).
Must have a GP management plan in place as part of the management.
How to Access Services
Consult with your GP about your health concerns. If appropriate, your GP can refer you to an Exercise Physiologist under a Chronic Disease Management Plan.
Obtain a referral from your GP (usually an EPC referral) for Medicare subsidised Exercise Physiology sessions.
Schedule an initial consultation with JY Exercise Physiology. Bring your referral form and Medicare card to your appointment.
Number of Sessions Per Year
Under a Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan, clients are eligible for up to 5 Medicare subsidised allied health sessions per calendar year. These five sessions can be used across different allied health services, including Exercise Physiology, Physiotherapy, Dietetics, and more, depending on the client's needs and the GP's referral.
