At JY Exercise Physiology, our mission is to enhance the health, fitness, and well-being of veterans through individualised exercise programs tailored to address a wide range of physical and mental health needs. We are committed to delivering high quality, evidence based care and ensuring you receive the best possible support through your Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) benefits.
Whether you’re managing a chronic condition, recovering from an injury, or looking to improve your strength and mobility, our Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP) will guide you every step of the way with a program designed to meet your unique goals and improve your overall quality of life.
What is DVA?
The Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) is an Australian government agency responsible for supporting veterans, their families, and eligible dependents. DVA provides a range of services and benefits designed to address the health, welfare, and wellbeing needs of those who have served in the Australian Defence Force (ADF). This includes medical care, rehabilitation, mental health support, and various other forms of assistance related to military service.
The DVA ensure veterans and their families receive the comprehensive support they need to lead healthy, fulfilling lives after service. Whether you require ongoing medical care, exercise based rehabilitation, or assistance with managing a chronic condition, DVA benefits are designed to provide the help you deserve.
Exercise Physiology Eligibility
At JY Exercise Physiology, we’re proud to support veterans through individualised, evidence based exercise programs. If you hold a DVA Gold Card or White Card, you may be eligible for fully covered Exercise Physiology services to help manage injuries, chronic conditions, and enhance your overall well-being.
Veteran Gold Card Holders
If you have a Veteran Gold Card, the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA) covers comprehensive Exercise Physiology services. This includes treatment for a wide range of physical and mental health conditions, helping you improve your mobility, strength, and quality of life.
Veteran White Card Holders
If you hold a Veteran White Card, DVA can cover Exercise Physiology services, but only for conditions that are accepted as service related injuries or illnesses. This means you may be eligible for treatment if your condition is connected to your military service.
For more information about DVA eligibility, visit the DVA website or contact DVA directly at 1800 838 372.
Referral Requirements for DVA
To access DVA covered Exercise Physiology treatments, you’ll need a referral from an approved healthcare provider, such as:
Your General Practitioner (GP)
A medical specialist
Your treating doctor in the hospital
A hospital discharge planner
DVA Allied Health services operate on a treatment cycle, lasting up to 12 sessions or 1 year (whichever comes first). After completing a treatment cycle, you can return to your referring doctor to discuss your progress and request a new referral if further treatment is needed.

The Benefits of Exercise Physiology for DVA
1. Personalised Rehabilitation Plans: I create customised programs to help you recover, regain strength, and improve mobility, aiding in injury recovery and managing chronic conditions.
2. Enhanced Physical Recovery: Exercise physiology promotes recovery by increasing strength, flexibility, and endurance, helping with musculoskeletal injuries and conditions like arthritis.
3. Mental Health Support: Exercise helps reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD, supporting mental well-being alongside physical health.
4. Pain Management: I incorporate exercises that reduce chronic pain, helping you manage discomfort and regain an active lifestyle.
5. Increased Independence: Exercise improves functional capacity, allowing you to perform daily tasks safely and independently, reducing the risk of falls.
6. Long-term Health Benefits: Exercise helps reduce the risk of chronic conditions like heart disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis, contributing to long-term health.
7. Ongoing Support: I provide continuous monitoring and guidance, ensuring your rehabilitation progresses effectively and your goals are met.
